Mamie Lee Franklin was born July 22, 1941. She entered into enternal rest Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Norwalk Hospital. Born in Kingstree, SC, Mamie resided in Norwalk for the past fifty years. Mamie was the daughter of the late Ben Singleton, Sr and Peggie Fulton. She was a retired employee of Beiersdorf, Inc as machine operator of over 15 years. Mamie was defined by her devotion to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who thought about others with concern and care. She graced the world with her heart felt kindness, gentle smile, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Mamie is survived by her children Arnett Franklin, Jr, Mary Smith, Lucille Glenn, Diane Franklin, Arlether (Gary) Babcock of Norwalk; sisters Mary (Bill) Morrow of Monroe and Janie Scott of Bridgeport; brothers Willie Fulton of Norwalk and Ernest Fulton of Bridgeport; cherished grandchildren Taka Ragin, Dametra (Kenyata) Arrington, Michael (LaJoy) Glenn, Adrienne (Jimmy) DeJesus, Marlon Glenn, Anthony (Val) Franklin, Ashley Franklin, and Donald Moore, Jr. 12 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and sister-in-law. She is predeceased by her husband Arnett Franklin, Sr.; brothers Ben Singleton, Jr and James Fulton; daughter Denise Moore and son-in-law Donald Moore Sr. Services will be held on May 19, 2014 at 11:00am at Shiloh Baptist Church, 68 Van Zant St, Norwalk, CT Come with Me The Lord saw you getting tired And a cure was not to be, So He put his arms around you and whispered Come with me' With tearful eyes we watched you suffer And we saw you fade away Although we loved you dearly We could not make you stay A golden heart stopped beating Your beautiful smile at rest. God broke our hearts to prove He ALWAYS takes the best.
