Louis R. DePanfilis
.
It is with profound sadness we share the passing of Louis DePanfilis, son of the late Ralph and Jennie DePanfilis and brother of Anthony DePanfilis (Kathy), Ralph DePanfilis (Kathy), Joseph DePanfilis (Susan), Jean DesRochers (Ernie), Noreen Amato (the late Tony), and Joyce Bretherton (Fred) and many nieces and nephews. He fought more than a courageous battle with cancer with the love of family, friends and God at his side.
Lou was a loving, caring and faith-filled man who found his true purpose in recent years. His conviction to his faith grew stronger through his work alongside a fellowship of dedicated individuals who gathered for a shared purpose. He sought for a miracle but didn’t realize that he was the miracle, the beacon of strength and courage, who not only touched hearts, but greatly impacted the lives of so many along the way.
It brought him great joy to share special moments with his nieces and nephews attending their sporting events and UConn basketball games, soaking up the sun, enjoying a concert or sharing a great Italian meal together – often followed by a good cigar. Lou treasured the outpouring of support from countless friends who shared in his life, his commitment to fellowship, and his faith journey.
A special thank you to all who have been by his side throughout his journey including special gratitude to Dr. Arthur Heliotis, the staff at Yale New Haven Hospital Smilow Cancer Center and Medical ICU and the angels at Regional Hospice of Danbury.
Friends are invited to join his family to celebrate his life on November 25, 9 am, St. Matthews Church, Norwalk, followed by mass at 10 am and Christian burial at St. John’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lou’s memory to Yale New Haven Hospital Development Office (Thoracic Oncology Translational Research Fund or Medical ICU) or Regional Hospice of Danbury. He selflessly endured so much so others could benefit from a new treatment, a possible cure, or a new glimmer of hope.
