Lonnie Albert Long was born on September 19, 1947 in Anniston, Alabama and was a son to the late Albert & Rosa Lee Long. Lonnie attended Cobb Avenue High School and graduated in 1965. He went on to work as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years and retired in 2005. In 2006 Lonnie was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in Newberg, NY and had belonged to the Soundview Norwalk, CT Congregation. Lonnie enjoyed being with family and friends, and is known for his loving smile, and will be missed by all those whose lives he touched. Lonnie is predeceased by his parents Albert & Rosa Lee Long, his five siblings: Barbara J. Jackson, William Frank Long, Shirley Long Fowler, Gloria Long Huguley and Lula Long. In addition to his wife Sandra, he is survived by five children:Febra Popoff (Jean Paul), Darryl Palmer Jr., Crystale Mejia (Manuel), Eric Long, Reese Palmer (VaLisa) His two sisters, Kay Long and Deborah Jean Fox, three brothers, Thomas Long, Kenneth Long and Broderick Long, nine grandchildren: Marcal Long, Isiah Long, Cherizma Woods, Chelbria Brown, Nyles Brown, Vaughn Dowell, Rachel Popoff, Bryson Palmer and Bryant Jacob Palmer. Also a very loving cousin Annie Clyde Brockman and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held on Monday, July 7th, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Norwalk's Hoyt Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street in Norwalk Connecticut. A memorial Talk will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am DIRECTLY at Kingdom Hall 126 Newtown Ave. Norwalk, Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
