NORWALK, CONN Lois B. Munger of Norwalk passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 29, 2009 in the Westport Healthcare Center. She was 91. Born in Norwalk on November 05, 1917, Lois was the daughter of the late Royal and Bertha (McNamee) Benedict and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1935. Following graduation, she worked as a Nanny for a Westport family and then in her mother's business, the former Westview Convalescent Home of Norwalk. Lois subsequently retired in 1984 from Pepperidge Farm after twenty years as a production and shift clerk. Lois was an avid reader and also enjoyed sewing and knitting. She also loved to travel, especially enjoying her trips to Vermont. Among her favorite past times was her enthusiasm for watching and listening to sport events, especially golf. She was a member of the former Bridge Club TKH of Norwalk, where she was a phenomenal player. She is survived by two sons, James L. Munger of Norwalk and Stephen R. Munger of Watertown; one daughter, Joan M. Damato of Norwalk; a brother, Royal Benedict of Norwalk; five grandchildren, Dacia Coppola, Stephanie Munger, Shelby Ruckel, Danielle Talisse and Jason Munger; six great-grandchildren, Marc, Kylie, AJ, Hayden, Megan, and Stella and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death were two sisters, Carol Shufelt and Barbara Campbell. Lois' family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, November 05, 2009 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 2:00PM - 6:00PM. Her funeral service will be held in the parlor at the conclusion of calling hours, 6:00PM. The Rev. Janet G. Hodge of the Norwalk United Methodist Church will officiate.
