NORWALK, CONN Lillian Demers of Norwalk passed away on Friday, August 06, 2010 in Norwalk Hospital. She was 97. Her husband, Arthur Demers predeceased her. Born on May 19, 1913 in St. Theodore, Canada, Lillian was the daughter of the late Joseph and Exilina (Desrosiers) Bonenfant and attended local schools. She settled in Norwalk in 1927. Lillian was a seamstress at Stafford Higgins of Norwalk for many years. She also worked as a receptionist at the Broad River Homes and retired in 1998. A devout Catholic, Lillian was a member of St. Philip R.C. Church of Norwalk for many years. She enjoyed dancing and spending time with her friends and family. She is survived by a brother, Paul and his wife, Margaret Bonenfant of Norwalk; nieces, Linda, Donna, Pauline, Lisa, Rachel and Rita; nephews, Donald, Norman, Dennis and Thomas and a sister-in-law, Theresa Bonenfant. Preceding in death were brothers, Leandre and Felicien Bonenfant and nephews, Raymond and Robert Bonenfant. Friends may call on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 to Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 5:00PM - 7:00PM. Lillian's funeral will be held at 9:40AM on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 from the parlor, where the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Philip R.C. Church, 1 Father Conlon Place, Norwalk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM. Fr. Andrew Garavel will officiate. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. Memorial Contributions may be made directly to St. Philip Church. Hoyt-Cognetta is honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
