Leonel Araujo

May 11, 1953 — September 21, 2023

Leonel Araujo, 70, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2023, at home in Norwalk.CT, surrounded by his family. Leonel was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala. He moved to New York City in 1974 and then to Connecticut in 1985. During that time, he held various jobs across different industries until 1991 when he began studying and working at Norwalk Community College. He began his time there as a work study and built up his career as an Assistant Registrar. He worked there for over 27 years and retired at the end of 2019.

Outside of his career, he was incredibly passionate about music. As an avid listener to classic rock n’ roll and playing guitar, he was always eager to experience live music performances and curious about learning to play other instruments.

Above all, Leo was a family-oriented man. He valued his family deeply and cherished spending time with them. Leonel was the son of Armando and Conchita Araujo. He is survived by his wife, Lesvia, his children Daniel, Aldo and Paula, daughter-in-law Jennifer and his grandkids: Jonathan, Jayden, Gianni and Brooklynn. In addition he has 6 siblings: Rolando, Irma, Armando, Carolina, Ana and Hugo along with his beloved nieces and nephews.
