Lee A Kosh

March 21, 1922 — March 28, 2013

KOSH-Lee Kosh, born in the lower East side of Manhattan on March 21, 1922. Died of natural causes on March 28, 2013 at age 91 in Wilton, CT. Former resident of Boca Raton, Florida, Manhattan, and Long Beach, New York. Married to his childhood sweetheart Alice Helfman in 1943. Beloved father of Susan Pfeffer and Mitchell Kosh; father-in-law of Robert and Annie. Devoted grandfather of Michael and Adam Prager, Jeremy, Daniel and David Kosh, Adored great-grandfather of Zachary and Sophia Prager. Dear brother to Joseph Kosh. A Boy's High School graduate, Lee was an Army Air Corps Veteran, who proudly served in Europe during World War II. After the War, he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at New York University. In New York City public schools for more than thirty years, he taught a variety of academic subjects and physical education. He also founded a large summer camp and private school, which he ran for twenty-five years. While in Boca Raton, he taught ethics and history at B'nai Torah synagogue and took an active role in community matters. Throughout his teaching career, Lee inspired students to excel at academics and particularly, in athletics. Moving from Florida in 2009, Lee and Alice lived at The Greens, an assisted living residence in Wilton, CT. After Alice's passing, Lee continued to be very active in this community, leading political discussions and Spanish & French clubs; and joyfully starring in musical performances. Friends may greet the family on March 29, 2013 from 10:30 to 12 noon in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street, Norwalk, CT. Rabbi Donald Stern will officiate services.
