Kyle Matthew Schlatter

November 23, 1986 — July 20, 2023

Kyle Matthew Schlatter, 36, of Wilton, tragically passed away on July 20, 2023.

Kyle was a triplet, born on November 23, 1986 to Pauline and James Michael Schlatter in Norwalk with his brother Christopher and sister Katlyn. Kyle lived his rambunctious young life between Norwalk, CT and Buttonwoods, RI along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends nearby.

Kyle and his family spent their summers in Buttonwoods, a tight knit community in Warwick, Rhode Island. Buttonwoods held Kyle’s heart, a place where he made lifelong friends and met his future wife, Katie Marie Olsen. Kyle danced in the hall, plucked quahogs from the bay and hosted late night bonfires.

Kyle was a passionate lover of the outdoors, he spent his spare time engaging in activities like boating, fishing, and motorcycling, often inviting friends and family to join him in these pursuits. He achieved the rare international triscore for the Fairfield Yankees Rugby Football Club. He was an incredible cook, delighting in the happiness that his meals brought to his loved ones.

Kyle was a renaissance man with an incredibly generous spirit. He was an accomplished tradesman, electrician, wood worker, mechanic - he could fix anything. Kyle was often the first call when something broke. He put all those skills to use lovingly restoring his home from the ground up. You could always count on Kyle to offer a helping hand, whether you were family, a close friend, or a stranger.

Kyle and Katie married on September 23, 2017 and they had a beautiful son, Wyatt James five years later. Kyle’s true essence emerged with the birth of his son. He was truly enamored with Wyatt, marveling at everything he did, always standing close to catch a fall and tenderly rocking him to sleep. Above all, Kyle was a family man. He treasured time with family, always making the effort to keep in touch with those he loved.

Kyle was not only a wonderful son, brother, husband, and doting father, but he was also a beacon of light to the entire community. As a volunteer firefighter, he bravely served our community and risked his life for the safety of others.

Kyle was strong willed and stubborn, but also the epitome of joy and positivity. He loved to joke around and his infectious laughter was a source of happiness for everyone around him. Kyle will be remembered for the love he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them - and if you knew him, you knew it.

Kyle is survived by his wife, Katie Schlatter; son, Wyatt Schlatter; mother, Pauline Schlatter; father, James Michael Schlatter; sister, Katlyn Alexander; brother, Christopher Schlatter and four nieces and nephews.
