Kurt Richard Weimar

February 26, 1944 — May 14, 2017

Kurt Richard Weimar, age 73 a lifelong resident of Norwalk died peacefully Sunday May 14, 2017 in Norwalk Hospital. Born in Norwalk, February 26, 1944 he was the son of the late Adolf and Arline Warner Weimar. He graduated from Brien McMahon High School (Class of 1962) and then voluntarily enlisted in the US Marine Corp. serving in combat in Vietnam. Upon his return Kurt was an Electrical Engineer for 42 years with Northeast Utilities in Norwalk. He graduated with a dual Masters in Electrical Engineering and Business from the University of Bridgeport. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Giola Gertz Weimar of Norwalk.

He volunteered in many community and fraternal organizations such as Lafayette Consistory Scottish Rite, AASR Northern Masonic Jurisdiction Degree 32, Monkerd Grotto, Trinity Commandery No3 Knights Templer, Past District Deputy State of CT, Past District Deputy Old Well St John’s No6, Rittenhouse Chapter No11 R.A.M, Washington Council No6 R.&S.M., Old Well-St. John’s No6 A.F.& A.M., Marine Corp League Association, Mahackemo Det, Norwalk, American Legion, Assistant Boy scout leader Troop 44, Marine’s Memorial Association, Norwalk Quartette Club, Norwalk Senior Center

Kurt is also survived by his two children: Kyle Philip Weimar and Andrea Bennett of Weston, CT; Alethea and Eric Bitzer (husband) of Gardners, PA. and his 5 grandchildren: Kyle Jr (wife Mariah); Taylor; Eric Jr; Cole and Ty.  A celebration of Kurt’s life will be held on Monday May 22, 2017 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home and Crematory, 5 East Wall Street, Norwalk, CT 06851. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Old Well- St. John’s Masonic Lodge #6, PO Box 306 Norwalk, CT 06850 or to The Marine Corp League, Mahackemo Det Norwalk Ct. 321 Newtown Ave, Norwalk , CT 06851-2536. ‘ We will always carry your memory in our hearts’
