WILTON, CONN. Kenneth "Ken" P. Jayne of Wilton passed away Saturday, December 13, 2008 in Norwalk Hospital, following a courageous battle with Cancer and a brief sudden illness. Born in Norwalk on April 4, 1942, Ken was the son of the late Frederick and Ada (Best) Jayne and was a lifelong resident of Wilton. He graduated from Wilton High School in 1961. On September 25, 1976, he married his beloved wife of thirty-two years, Laurel (Tolles) Jayne. Together, they raised their three sons along with his daughter Carolyn from a previous marriage in Wilton. He proudly served our country in the National Guard. Ken was a self employed excavator for many years. He was also employed by the Department Public Works of Wilton for eleven years as their Senior Mechanic, up until his death. He was an avid truck fan and especially loved Mack Trucks. He was a member of the Antique Truck Historical Society (ATHS) and the Antique Truck Club of America (ATCA - Connecticut Yankee Chapter). Ken was a master mechanic and enjoyed restoring antique trucks. Anyone who knew him understood his true passion for trucks and their history. Loyal to his organizations, Ken attended truck meets throughout the Northeast. He was also a clever handyman who could accomplish any task he started. But more notably, he was a loyal friend and true family man, who cherished every moment with his loving family. He will be greatly missed by all. Along with his wife, he is survived by three sons, Michael P. Jayne of Greenwich, Steven H. Jayne of Norwalk and Daniel F. Jayne of Wilton; a daughter, Carolyn J. and her husband, David Forman along with his beloved granddaughter Samantha Jayne Forman of Stuart, FL; one brother, Frederick and his wife, Pat of FL; a sister, Lois Cable of Newfane, VT; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death was a brother, William Jayne. Ken's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. His funeral will be held in the parlor, at the conclusion of calling hours, 8:00PM. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
