FORMER LONG TIME NORWALK RESIDENT June D. Richards of Rancho Santa Fe, California former longtime resident of Norwalk passed away on her Birthday, May 20, 2010 at The Cloisters of La Jolla, California following a period of declining health and Alzheimers. Her beloved husband, Bob of 41 years, passed away in 2002. June was 91 years of age. Born in Greenwich, CT on May 20, 1919, June was the daughter of Joseph Dest and Myrtle Charlotte (Boenisch) Dest of Norwalk, CT. June worked in the advertising/broadcast field in New York and then later went on to build and remodel homes throughout the San Diego area. June enjoyed golfing with her husband Bob at Whispering Palms where they lived in Rancho Santa Fe. June was an avid exerciser either walking the golf course or riding her exercise bike. June loved to travel and her and her husband Bob traveled all over the world. Her favorite places were Portofino in Italy and Hawaii where she lived on Oahu for a time in the late 50's. June also lived in Berkeley, California then moved to Belmont Shore, California then to Washington D.C. then Hawaii before finally settling in Rancho Sante Fe, California. She continued her love of Hawaii by enjoying Hawaiian music and always kept things from Hawaii around her home in rancho Santa Fe. June loved to sing and dance and as a young girl performed in various productions and was a New York City Rockette as a teenager in New York City. She is survived by two sons, Ronald E. Beale of Newport Beach, CA and Gary Parada of Tulare, California; one daughter, Gail Burkeens of Marrero, Louisana; 8 grandchildren, Shannon Van Buskirk, Donald Beale, Gary Burkeens, Shane Burkeens, Kathy Abreo, Terry Rich, Phillip Parada, Michelle Parada A graveside service at the East Norwalk Historical Cemetery will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 11:00 am. There are no calling hours. Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street is honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
