Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Juanito Austria Rondares of Minanga Camalaniugan, Cagayan in the Philippines, passed away surrounded by his family on April 12, 2019. He is survived by his wife, Salvacion V. Rondares of Norwalk, Connecticut; his six daughters, Nenita Rondares, Josephine R. Castillo, Emma R. Wittstein, Jean R. Mendoza, Rosanna Rondares, and Janette R. Catle; his son Rey V. Rondares; his siblings, Rosita Terante, Emerita Tuscano, Loreta Rondares, Bonifacio Rondares, and Ricardo Rondares; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Juanito is preceded in death by his son Juanito “Bobot” Rondares.
Juanito was raised in the province of Cagayan and is the son of Teodoro Regua Rondares and Agrifina Sy Austria. He worked as a sales person in the automobile supply for many years in Manila and went abroad to work as building construction foreman in Iraq to send his children to college.
Juanito and Salvacion were wed on December 4, 1955 and had 63 years of beautiful and loving marriage. Juanito aka “Juaning” to relatives and old friends loved being with family and friends. He enjoyed gardening, home improvement and traveling. He was very innovative and can fix broken items or transform something into reusable and functional objects.
