Juan C. Montanez, 66, a longtime resident of Norwalk, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side. Born on October 8th, 1945 to the late Mercedes and Ponfidia Garcia Montanez in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. Juan was recently retired from the Norwalk Board of Education. He is survived by his longtime companion Nilza Vazquez, his daughters Maricela and Nellie Montanez of Norwalk. His son Juan (Pito) Montanez, Jr., along with his two stepsons Jose and Alex Vazquez all of Norwalk. His seven cherished grandchildren; Christopher, Jose Jr., Peter, Matthew, Isabelle, Emmanuel, and Sean. Also surviving is a brother Gregorio Montanez of Puerto Rico, his two sisters Cruz Montanez of Norwalk, and Margarita Montanez of Puerto Rico. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 10:30AM and proceed for interment at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Richards Ave., Norwalk where a prayer service will be held.
