Joyce Theodora Maugeri

Joyce Theodora Linstrum Maugeri was born in Norwalk, CT on March 11, 1939, and passed away peacefully in her eldest daughter’s home in Sugar Land, TX on June 7, 2017 after a fiercely fought battle with brain cancer at the Houston Medical Center.  She is preceded in death by her Mother, Minnie Alois Hahn, her Father, Theodore Scudder Linstrum. her stepbrother Jean E. Hahn Jr, and her stepfather, Jean E. Hahn Sr.  She is survived by her daughters, Loralee (Lori) Whitburn of Sugar Land, TX and Lisa DeLano of Thornton, CO.  She is also survived by her cousin June Lemelin and husband Lee, daughter Amy, cousin Marie Betts, daughter Shari Betts-Dock, sons David Betts and Brian Betts, and many other cousins and nieces and nephews too numerous to list.

Joyce married her husband Ralph Maugeri in 1956 but divorced in the early ‘80’s, and she thereafter moved to Bridgeport, where she was a resident for over 30 years.

She graduated from Norwalk Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts in 1963.  She then attended Bridgeport University and graduated in 1968 with a BA in Liberal Arts.

In the ‘70’s she took time aside to assist with family matters.  Afterwards, her interests took her back to school; she took and passed the real estate exam, received a diploma as a pharmacy technician; she also worked in telemarketing for Scholastic and Grolier, and other telemarketing companies.

Visitation and Memorial services will be held for Joyce L. Maugeri at the Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street, Norwalk, CT, from 11am till 1pm on Friday June 16th, 2017.  Immediately following will be the burial procession, where she will be laid to rest with her family members at the East Norwalk Historical Cemetery.  Special thanks to all the people who helped make this possible.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association at www.abta.org/donate as a Tribute Donation in the name of Joyce Maugeri.  After the Burial, there will be a gathering for refreshments at the Norwalk Inn and Conference Center from 2:30pm to 4:30pm.
