Joseph S. Pettit of Pawtucket, (84)Rhode Island, passed away on December 20, 2025, He leaves this world surrounded by the love of his family, carrying with him the strength, humor, and warmth that defined his life. Joe was the beloved husband of Rosemary (Murphy) Pettit, his partner in all things and the heart of his world. He was the son of the late Joseph and Isabelle (Sybilad) Pettit, whose values and love shaped the man he became. Proud to serve his country, Joe spent part of his early life in the Army National Guard. He later built a successful business of his own, pouring his determination and work ethic into every endeavor. After many years of entrepreneurship, he continued his career elsewhere for another seven years before retiring—never losing the pride he felt in a job well done. Family was the center of Joe’s world. He is survived by his children, Kimberly A Scavitti and her husband Philip, and Joseph T Pettit and his wife Heather. He was the cherished grandfather of Owen and Avery Pettit and Blake Scavitti, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy. He was so proud of them all. Joe also leaves behind his sister, Linda (Pettit) Castle, and her husband Robert, along with extended family and friends who will forever feel the impact of his presence. Joe found his greatest peace near the water. Whether fishing, relaxing on a beach, or chartering a boat with his family, the ocean was his sanctuary. His love for the sea was deep and genuine—something he shared enthusiastically with everyone he met. And if you had never been to Aruba, Joe would make sure you left the conversation convinced you needed to go. Those family trips, filled with sunsets, laughter, and the endless stretch of ocean, were among his most treasured memories. He was a man who lived with heart—loyal, generous, and endlessly proud of the people he loved. His stories, his laughter, and his unwavering encouragement will remain with his family always.
