NORWALK, CONN Joseph J. Bruno, Sr. of Norwalk passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at his residence, while surrounded by his loving family. He was 64 and the husband to the late Ramona (Harris) Bruno, who died in 1988. Born on June 19, 1947 in Stamford, Conn., Joseph was the son of the late Frank and Marie (Unger) Bruno and attended local schools. He was a roofer/sider by trade and worked in that capacity in lower Fairfield County for many years. He subsequently worked as the bar manager for the 507 Café of Norwalk, a family business, for several years. Joseph enjoyed the many friendships he formed throughout his life, including the devoted patrons of the 507 Café. He also enjoyed spending time with his entire family and will be missed by all. He is survived by his son, Frank L. Bruno of Norwalk; his daughter, Tina M. Bruno of Norwalk; his sister, Lilli M. Rodia of Norwalk; seven grandchildren, Jahtavius Derry, Francesca Delacruz, Ariel Bruno, Caleb Bruno, Tayon Thompson, Brittney Thompson and Larry Piatt; many nieces and nephews; and the many friends he made along the way, especially his longtime friends, Sharon Bruno and Jerry Harris. Preceding in death were his two sons, Joseph J. Bruno, Jr. and Larry Piatt; a brother, Frank L. Bruno and sister, Kathy Pelletier. The Bruno family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, February 01, 2012 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 4:00PM - 8:00PM. Joseph's funeral will be held on Thursday, February 02, 2012 at 9:25AM from the parlor, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Avenue, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM. The Reverend Robert J. Crofut is to officiate. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.
