Jose Luis Ceja, age 83, of Norwalk, and the beloved husband of the late Elisa Lopez, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2018 at Cassena Care in Norwalk with his loving family by his side. Jose was born in Abadiano Michoacan, Mexico on May 8, 1935 and spent most of his life there. Jose was the beloved son of Leopoldo Ceja and Magdalena Valdovinos.
Jose is survived by three siblings and his nine children. In order from oldest to youngest, they are; Jorge, Maria Cruz, Martha, Jose Luis, Gerardo, Consuelo, Maria Consepcion, Sergio and Eduardo. He was blessed and delighted to also have 28 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Before moving to the United States, he would make yearly visits here from Mexico to spend time with his children and grandchildren.
Jose is a retired farmer; though he still worked on a part time basis buying and selling goods. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed fishing, and would often spend all day at his small lemon plantation taking care of his trees. He cherished seeing his friends each day, they gathered to play billiards and cards at the local plaza.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for a memorial celebration of Jose’s life at Hoyt-Cognetta / Lesko Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street, In Historic Norwalk. Prayer service will begin at 7:00 p.m.
