NORWALK, CONN John Christopher Romano of Norwalk ,CT, a former high school football star who also pursued a lifelong interest in art and design, died Monday. He was 37 years old. Johnny was born on September 23, 1973 in Norwalk, CT. A 1992 graduate of King Low Heywood Thomas School in Stamford, CT, he was captain of the football team. An enthusiastic student of art, he designed the Viking logo which became the school's mascot, and continued to be used for many years. Johnny was employed at the All American Custom Pools & Spas as a Director of the Service Department and Design Consultant. Johnny was very proud of both his Italian and Icelandic back ground. He loved the Viking History and he frequented the Renaissance Fair. He is survived by his parents, John Romano of Norwalk and Kristrun Romano of Wilton; his two brothers Roberto and Michael Romano and their fiancées Lynda Bardos and Megan Ziminsky; his half sisters Jaye Lutfy of Puerto Rico, and Nicole Romano of Norwalk, and a nephew Jean Medina; His paternal Grandmother Diana Romano, Uncle Robert Romano and cousins Robert & Christopher all of Norwalk, CT. He is also survived by his maternal Grandfather Erlingur Dagsson, an Aunt Vigdis Erlingsdottir, uncles, Thor Erlingsson, Jon Erlingsson, Kjartan Erlingsson and Gretar Erlingsson in Iceland and 17 cousins in Iceland . Johnny is predeceased by his maternal Grandmother Ragnheidur Jonsdottir from Iceland and his paternal Grandfather Roberto A. Romano of Norwalk and his beloved dog Magnus. Johnny's family will receive friends on Friday, June 17, 2011 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 4:00PM - 8:00PM. His funeral will be held at 9:20AM on Saturday, June 18, 2011 from the parlor, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Jerome R.C. Church, 23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM. The Rev. David Blanchfield will officiate. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. Memorial Contributions may be made to any Animal Rescue organization of your choice.
