LOVE-John B. Love, a resident of Westport, CT for 49 years, died there on May 17 of a heart attack. He was 86. Born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1925, Mr. Love attended Loyola College and Harvard University, and obtained an M.B.A. from Harvard in 1947. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the mid-1940s. Upon the completion of his service he began his business career in Willimantic, Connecticut at the American Thread Company, ultimately moving to the New York headquarters and becoming chief executive officer in 1965. He subsequently became the vice chairman of Cadbury-Schweppes, Ltd., from which he retired in 1982. Mr. Love was an active civic leader, serving on many corporate and community boards over the years in Willimantic, Westport and Hartford, including Windham Community Memorial Hospital, Norwalk Hospital, Connecticut Bank and Trust, and the Jaycees. Married to Elizabeth White Love for 64 years, he was the patriarch of an extended family, a particularly devoted grandfather, and a source of care and comfort for all his relatives and friends throughout his life. In addition to his wife, Mr. Love is survived by two sons, John Love of Mamaroneck, NY, and Richard Love of South Windsor, CT, a daughter, Anne Donahue of Baltimore, eight grandchildren, his sister, Joan Green of Ellicott City, Maryland, his brother, Richard Love of Baltimore, and many nieces and nephews.
