JoAnn Karagianes, age 79, of Norwalk and the beloved wife of the late Irving Karagianes, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2018 at home. JoAnn was born in Stamford on February 2, 1939 and was a daughter to the late Charles and Rose (Loglisci) Turcio.
JoAnn worked for many years as an insurance agent with Shoff Darby. She a faithful parishioner at St. Thomas Church and was an active member of both Sons of Italy and the Saint Ann’s clubs. She enjoyed Broadway shows, the beach and the sunshine, had a love for dancing and also enjoyed playing bocce. JoAnn was full of life and most enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her four children; Thomas Karagianes and his wife Jodi (Galazin) of Charlotte, NC, Scott Karagianes and his wife Rosemary of Greenwich, CT, Roseann Plank of Stamford, CT, and Jodi Karagianes of Bridgeport, CT. JoAnne is also survived by her brothers; Frank Turcio of Georgetown, DE, Charles Turcio of Stamford, CT and Joseph Turcio of Concord, NH. She was blessed to have seven grandchildren; Jessica, Kimberly, Katelyn, Megan, Jillian, Elyssa and Heidi, as well as two great-grandchildren, Jade and Sydney, and her nieces and nephew; Stacey, Sharon, Ellen, and Kevin.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hoyt-Cognetta / Lesko Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street, In Historic Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. Interment will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
