Joan Kling, formerly of Norwalk, peacefully left us on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Joan was born in Mount Kisco, NY, on December 6, 1932. She married, divorced, and remarried Oscar William Kling Jr. Together they had nine children. Joan is predeceased by two of her children, Pamela Jane Harris and Beth-Anne Mitchell. She is also predeceased by her parents Genevieve Brown Ford and George Roland Ford. Joan also lost four sisters and a brother prior to her passing.
Joan had a talent of finding four-leaf clovers; she could find four to five in a sitting. She also enjoyed nature walks and naming all the trees, plants, and flowers. Joan enjoyed leaf and flower pressing, and using them on note cards. Before Alzheimer’s took over her life, she walked around the property of her apartment complex several times a day, dead-heading flowers and bushes. She enjoyed listening to all genres of music. Joan was usually the first one on the dance floor, at any event. She also loved babies and toddlers; good thing with nine children! At family gatherings you could hear her laughter echoing. As adult children, it was such a great feeling laughing with her.
Joan will be missed by her children: Robert Kling of Shelton, Lorraine (Ron) Montross of Norwalk, Douglas (Ellen) Kling of Norwalk, Dawn (Jim) Barrett of Danbury, Jim (Linda) Kling of Ashville, NC, David Kling of West Haven, Gregory (Ceci) Kling of Norwalk, and son-in-laws James Mitchell of Danbury, and Jim Harris of Bridgeport. She is sadly leaving behind seventeen grandchildren and 7.5 great grandchildren. She is also leaving behind a sister, Barbara Fairington.
A celebration of Joan Ford Kling’s life will take place on Saturday November 11, 2017 from 12:00-3:00 PM at Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral home, 5 East Wall Street, Norwalk. To leave an online condolence and for more information, please visit www.norwalkfh.com
