Joan C. Allen, age 83, beloved wife of Donald R. Allen of Westport, died July 3, 2013 in Norwalk Hospital. Mrs. Allen was born in Norwalk and was a daughter to the late Earl and Elizabeth Spicer Clark. Joan was a retired Bookkeeper for the Westport Board of Education. Survivors in addition to her husband include a loving son Donald C. Allen of Portugal, a loving daughter Sara Greenawalt and her husband Mark of Fairfield; a sister Elizabeth Sedgwick of Weston; three cherished grandchildren, David Allen, Marc & Danielle Greenawalt; two nephews Thomas and Scott Sedgwick. She was predeceased by a brother Robert Clark. Friends may join the family on Sunday July 7, 2013 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm for a memorial celebration of Joan's Life at Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street. In honor of her fashion sense, the family requests guest to wear colorful/bright clothing to the service.
