NORWALK, CONN Jennie Rogers (Ruggiero) DePanfilis, age 83, passed away peacefully with her husband of 63 years at her side at Norwalk Hospital on March 17, 2011. Jennie's husband is the former Postmaster Ralph DePanfilis, Sr. She is also survived by her seven children: Probate Judge Tony and wife Kelly; Ralph, Jr. and wife Kathleen (Russell); Louis; Joseph and wife Susan (Napoletano); Jean DesRochers and her husband Ernie; Noreen Amato and husband Tony; Joyce Bretherton and husband Fred; and her 15 grandchildren: Tony Jr. ( wife Meghan); Adam (fiancee Jessica); Dr. Jeffrey (wife Sarah); Kelly; Russell and Mark DePanfilis; Joseph M. DePanfilis; John, Stephen and Maria DesRochers; Anthony and Jenny Amato; Jessica, Rick and Doug Bretherton; 2 great-grandchildren John and Caroline DePanfilis and her siblings Tony Ruggiero, Carol Fratina, and Johnny Rogers. Her dedication to her family, friends, church and community showed what a loving, giving, caring person she was and her devotion was inspirational to everyone she touched. If you met Jennie you'd say "what a great person"; if you knew Jennie you'd know that words could never describe her. How blessed we were to have her in our lives. Some of her many accomplishments include: President of the St. Joseph Rosarian Guild, Italian Woman of the Year ,fundraising efforts for the STAR organization, active in the Republican Town Committee, Voting Poll Moderator, Diocesan Chairwoman of Pre-Cana conferences, and involvement in a multitude of fundraisers for local charities. A special thank you to Dr. Arthur Heliotis, the Norwalk Hospital Foundation and the clergy at St. Joseph and St. Matthew Parishes for their unending compassion and dedicated care. The DePanfilis family will receive friends on Sunday, March 20, 2011 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 3:00PM - 8:00PM. Jennie's funeral will be held on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 9:15AM from the parlor, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Joseph R.C. Church, 85 South Main Street, Norwalk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM. The Rev. Gilbert P. D'Souza and Msgr. Walter C. Orlowski will concelebrate. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.
