Norwalk, Conn. Jean Claire Kovacs, RN of Norwalk, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2009 in the Honey Hill Care Center of Norwalk, following a brief illness. She was 83 years of age. Born in Norwalk on January 20, 1925, Jean was the only child of Stanley and Clara (Holly) Wright and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1942. She continued her education at Norwalk Hospital, where she enrolled in their nursing program. In 1946 she received her degree in nursing. While enrolled, she made many loyal friends that she kept in touch with, up until the time of her death. Jean worked at Norwalk Hospital as a Registered Nurse for nearly ten years. During her career, she cared for many wonderful people and most notably, the late actress Mary Martin. She was also a homemaker who enjoyed providing for her late husband, David Kovacs and her son. Although Jean was a private lady, she touched many lives. She was passionate about helping others and contributed to many charities in need. She was an avid knitter and enjoyed making various items for her family and friends. Jean also had a deep appreciation for nature and all its beauty. She is survived by her son, David Allen Kovacs of Ada, Oklahoma and two grandchildren, Kent Forrest Kovacs and Elaine Sage Kovacs. Honoring Jean's wishes, funeral services will be held privately. Interment will be held at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan. The family has selected Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street, to assist them in the funeral arrangements.
