James V. DeFlorio Sr. 91 passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
James “Jimmy D” was born on December 2, 1932 in Norwalk CT where he lived his whole life. It was there he met his loving wife, Helen Fox and started a beautiful family. He worked at Hocon Gas Company for most of his life.
He was a very proud, kind, and loving man. He would always greet you with a soft smile and a firm handshake. A man’s man and alway respectful. He loved his country and served in the Army/National Guard as a Staff Sargent for many years. There were not many days you would see him without his veterans hat on, which he wore with pride. In addition to his hat you could find him wearing a cross and supporting his church. He was just as proud of his faith and would always be ready to give you God’s blessing or send you loving prayers. He would often play Santa for St. Matthew Church’s Christmas Fair. He loved entertaining, dressing as Santa was only one of the many ways. Others ways he loved to entertain were by playing the harmonica, playing the accordion and singing karaoke. He won the first place award at the American Legion post 12 in Norwalk. He has been a member there for many years. Besides music and singing he also loved fishing. A passion his great grandsons share. He enjoyed living life to its fullest. He was happiest around his family. He enjoined Sunday dinners at his daughter’s house. Singing, laughing, eating and enjoying being with his family.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Helen Fox. He is survived by his four children James V. DeFlorio Jr., Frank DeFlorio, Mary DeFlorio and Krystal DeFlorio. His grandchildren Frank DeFlorio Jr., Paul DeFlorio, Michael DeFlorio, Melissa Gruner, Robert Bergeron Jr., Chris Belline, Mark Marrero, and Kylynn Stovall. His many great grand children. His three sisters Angela DeFloio DeAngelis, Elaine Card and husband Everett, Jean Senese and husband Al. His two brothers Jerry DeFlorio and wife Donna, Jack DeFlorio and wife Nelda.
