Irving T. Karagianes age 79, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Norwalk Hospital on Sunday June 22, 2014. He is the son of the late Charles and Lucille Porter Karagianes. Irving was predeceased by his brother Donald Karagianes. Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years JoAnn Turcio Karagianes; daughter, Roseann Plank; son Thomas Karagianes and his wife Jodi; son Scott Karagianes and his wife Rose; daughter Jodi Karagianes; seven granddaughters, Jessica & Kim Plank, Katelyn, Megan & Jillian Thaler and Elyssa & Heidi Karagianes; brothers-in-law Frank Turcio and his wife Alberta, Charles Turcio and his wife Cathy, Joseph Turcio; a sister-in-law Antonia Karagianes. Irving worked at Capital Records in Stamford for over 32 years. Upon retiring and moving to Norwalk, he spent many hours working as a volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry located at St. Thomas Church. Irving was a member of the Gravinese and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was also a past member of the Piedmont Club and the Sons of Italy. His happiest times were when he was surrounded by his family. His pleasures in life were simple and humble. Friends are invited to greet the family on Tuesday, (TODAY) from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM in St Thomas the Apostle Church, Norwalk. Interment will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
