NORWALK, CONN Iris Garcia of Norwalk passed away in her home while surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 09, 2010. She was 70 years of age. Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico on April 05, 1940, Iris was one of nine children to the late Pascual and Candida (Figueroa) Ramos. She moved to New York in 1953 and subsequently settled in Norwalk in 1956 for the duration of her life. Iris was a homemaker who cared for her beloved husband, Herman Garcia of nearly forty-nine years and nurtured four wonderful children. She enjoyed cooking, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Devout to her religion, Iris was a fifty-five year member of the Pentecostal Church, John 3:16 Assemblies of God, of South Norwalk. She was a beautiful and spiritual lady who will be missed by all. Along with her husband, Iris is survived by her son, Edwin and his wife, Eisybell Esquilin-Garcia of Norwalk; her three daughters, Magalis Garcia of Brooklyn, NY, Lillian and her husband, David Nieves of Stratford, CT and Idalia Garcia and her longtime companion, Kevin Roth of Fajardo, Puerto Rico. She will be dearly missed by six grandchildren, Calyx, Alex, Marcus, Erica, Emily and Devin; two brothers, Alberto and Luis Ramos, both of Puerto Rico; a sister, Ramona Ramos of Norwalk and several nieces and nephews. The Garcia family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 in the Pentecostal Church, John 3:16 Assemblies of God, 8 Woodward Avenue, South Norwalk at 6:00PM. In accordance with the example she has left, there will be a service at the church from 7:30 to 9pm. during which her life and faith will be honored. On Thursday, October 14, 2010, all are invited to the church at 10:00AM for a prayer service with interment to follow in St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. The family would like to thank Iris' fellow church members and Pastor for their countless visits that helped make this a peaceful journey for our beloved Iris.
