Long Time Norwalk Resident Imre Janos Istvan, a longtime resident of Norwalk passed away early Tuesday morning July 21, 2015 in his home. Imre was born in Budapest, Hungary on June 16, 1934. He was the son of the late Balin Istvan and Maria Jambor Sipka. He leaves to cherish his beautiful memory his wife Dorothy, daughter Pamela Miranda and granddaughter Phoebe, as well as a host of relatives and friends. Imre is predeceased by his sons, John and Laszlo, sister, Klara Istvan Tasnadi, step-father Pal Sipka and son-in-law Moises Miranda III. Imre was educated in Budapest, Hungary where he began studies in engineering. He was a competitive swimmer and water polo player. As a member of the Hungarian Swim Team in Budapest, he won many medals in swimming competitions. After moving to the United States from Vienna, Austria, he started Imre Istvan Painting and Contracting. Imre enjoyed putting the final touch of beauty to new homes in New Canaan, Darien and Westport for over forty years. He was indeed an artist. Imre shared his passion for life with others by bringing them happiness. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, the company of family and friends, and the music of Frank Sinatra. "You are dearly missed, my love." The family wishes to thank Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County for their loving care. Services will be private, a Celebration of Life honoring Imre will be held at a future date. Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
