El hijo menor de Víctor Manuel González y María Teresa Ramírez. Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, sus dos hijos, y sus queridos hermanos Óscar, Omar, Blanca, Víctor Hugo, Jorge y Nelly González Ramírez. A Hubert le sobreviven sus hermanas Edilia Cardona y Aleida González. También deja tras de sí una vasta comunidad de sobrinos y sobrinas. Su círculo afectivo se extendía más allá de los lazos de sangre. Entre sus grandes amigos, la familia Upegui ocupó un lugar muy especial en su corazón: fueron como hermanos para él, su apoyo incondicional y su segunda familia en Colombia. A ellos los unió una amistad profunda, hecha de confianza, respeto y gratitud mutua. También deja una comunidad de vecinos que lo acogió en sus hogares y le brindó cariño, compañía y amistad. Con ellos compartió conversaciones, risas, momentos cotidianos y la calidez de sentirse parte de un entorno que lo valoraba.

Hubert fue un puente entre corazones, un verdadero unificador dentro de su familia y entre todos aquellos que tuvieron la fortuna de conocerle. Su presencia era constante y generosa: siempre encontraba el momento para acompañar a sus hermanos, especialmente en los momentos difíciles, cuando la enfermedad o la soledad hacían más necesario el calor humano.

También se distinguía por su elegancia. En ocasiones especiales o los domingos, en particular, eran casi un ritual: sus trajes perfectamente combinados, sus corbatas escogidas con esmero y, en muchas ocasiones, su sombrero característico. Su estilo no era solo una cuestión de apariencia, sino una expresión de su identidad.

Dedicó tiempo como voluntario en la Iglesia Saint Matthew de Norwalk, CT, colaborando en las misas dominicales, y mantuvo un vínculo profundo de cooperación, oración y apoyo espiritual con la comunidad de hermanas Comunicadoras Eucarísticas de Cali Colombia, y con la sede en Bridgeport, CT.

Su amor sin límites por los animales era quizás uno de los reflejos más virtuosos de quién era realmente Hubert. Su perrito Tucker fue su fiel compañero por más de 14 años. Otra dolorosa perdida para él. Los animales, al fin y al cabo, perciben lo que las palabras no pueden expresar. Cada criatura que cruzaba su camino parecía entender, de esa forma silenciosa e instintiva, que habían encontrado un lugar seguro donde estar, y un corazón que los amaba plenamente y sin condiciones.

Amigos, niños y vecinos conocidos le llamaban cariñosamente "abuelo" — un título ganado no por edad, sino por la ternura inigualable de su corazón.

Hubert se nos fue repentinamente. Su partida nos tomó por sorpresa, pero también nos invita a mirar su vida con gratitud y a reconocer la huella luminosa que dejó en cada uno de nosotros.

Tomando las palabras de la hermana Irene: “la enfermedad es un proceso de purificación y de restauración de nuestras almas”. En esa mirada de fe, su tránsito no fue un final abrupto, sino un paso hacia la plenitud, hacia un descanso donde ya no existe el dolor del cuerpo, ni la preocupación, solo la paz que merecen los corazones buenos.

Que su alma descanse feliz y en paz, rodeada del mismo amor que él sembró en vida. Su luz permanece en quienes lo amaron, en quienes lo acompañaron y en quienes hoy lo recuerdan con ternura.

He was born on December 31, 1946 in the city of Medellín, Colombia, where he began a life that would mark all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

The youngest son of Víctor Manuel González and María Teresa Ramírez. He was preceded in death by his parents, his two children, and his beloved siblings Óscar, Omar, Blanca, Víctor Hugo, Jorge and Nelly González Ramírez. Hubert is survived by his sisters Edilia Cardona and Aleida González; He also leaves behind a vast community of nephews and nieces. Their emotional circle extended beyond blood ties. Among his great friends, the Upegui family held a very special place in his heart: they were like brothers to him, his unconditional support and his second family in Colombia. They were united by a deep friendship, made of trust, respect and mutual gratitude. He also leaves behind a community of neighbors that welcomed him into their homes and gave him affection, company and friendship. With them he shared conversations, laughter, everyday moments and the warmth of feeling part of an environment that valued him.

Hubert was a bridge between hearts, a true unifier within his family and among all those who were fortunate enough to know him. On special occasions or Sundays, in particular, they were almost a ritual: their perfectly matched suits, their carefully chosen ties and, on many occasions, their characteristic hat. His style was not just a matter of appearance, but an expression of his identity.

He dedicated time as a volunteer at Saint Matthew Church in Norwalk, CT, collaborating in Sunday Masses, and maintained a deep bond of cooperation, prayer and spiritual support with the community of Eucharistic Communicator sisters in Cali Colombia, and with the headquarters in Bridgeport, CT.

His boundless love for animals was perhaps one of the most virtuous reflections of who Hubert really was. Her dog Tucker was her faithful companion for more than 14 years. Another painful loss for him. Animals, after all, perceive what words cannot express. Every creature that crossed their path seemed to understand, in that silent, instinctive way, that they had found a safe place to be, and a heart that loved them fully and unconditionally.

Friends, children, and neighbors affectionately called him "grandpa" — a title earned not by age, but by the unmatched tenderness of his heart.

Hubert left us suddenly. His passing took us by surprise, but it also invites us to look at his life with gratitude and to recognize the luminous mark he left on each of us.

In the words of Sister Irene: "illness is a process of purification and restoration of our souls". In that gaze of faith, his passage was not an abrupt end, but a step towards fullness, towards a rest where there is no longer the pain of the body, nor the worry, only the peace that good hearts deserve.
