GREENSBORO, NC Gerardo Augusto Urbina, Jr. of Greensboro, NC, formerly of Norwalk, passed away on Monday, July 06, 2009 in Greensboro, following a tragic accident. He was 33. Born in Norwalk on May 31, 1976, Gerardo was the son Carmen Iris Urbina Maldonado and Pedro Luis Serrano, both of Conn. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1994. He served in the United States Marine Corps and traveled extensively throughout the world. Upon his return, Gerardo was employed by various banking institutions, including the former Fleet Bank, First Union and Wachovia Bank. He subsequently became a self employed General Contractor. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid golfer. He was a wonderful son, husband, father and brother and will be missed by all. Along with his parents, he is survived by his wife, Eve Winseman Urbina; three children, Gerardo Antonio Urbina, Nathaniel Augusto Urbina and Isaiah Luis Urbina, all of Greensboro; three sisters, Marylis Portillo of Conn, Melissa Urbina and Adriana Urbina, both of Georgia and a brother, Luis Serrano of Conn. Gerardo's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, July 24, 2009 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 6:00PM - 8:00PM. His funeral will be held in the parlor at 7:00PM with Father Gilbert P. D'Souza of St. Joseph R.C. Church of South Norwalk, officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Urbina's Childrens Fund, C/O Bank of America, 2108 N. Church Street, Greensboro, NC 27405.
