NEW CANAAN, CONN. Gerard B. Tracy, of New Canaan, Connecticut, formerly of Crestwood, New York, died on July 12, 2008 in New Canaan, Connecticut. He was a former Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, a leading producer for Prudential Insurance, Founder and President of Gerard B. Tracy Associates and, most importantly, father of eight children and husband to the love of his life, Muriel (Guiney) Tracy. Jerry Tracy was born June 29, 1918 in the Bronx, New York, to Eleanor and Joseph Tracy. He was the son of a NYC firefighter who died, at a young age, in the line of duty. He was the oldest of four children. He is predeceased by his younger brothers, William and Joseph. Jerry proudly referred to himself as 'a Bronx boy'. He was a graduate of The City College of New York. Mr. Tracy was a Knight of Malta. He was also a commissioner of the East Hudson Parkway Authority, appointed by New York Governor, Malcolm Wilson. He was a Life and Qualifying Member of the Million Dollar Round Table. He was the first President of the Newman Club Alumni of CCNY, a Trustee of Iona College, President of the Westchester Chapter of the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick, a member of the Board of Directors of the City College Alumni, and a member of the Board of Directors of Former Special Agents of the F.B.I. He served on the Archdiocese of New York's Cardinal's Committee of the Laity. In 1996, he received the prestigious Townsend Harris Medal of CCNY for outstanding post-graduate achievement. He was an Ecumenical Minister for both St. Aloysius Parish and St. Camillus Nursing Home. Mr. Tracy would say that his crowning achievement was his marriage to his wife of sixty years, Muriel, affectionately known as Moo. In addition to Muriel, he is survived by his sister, Terese Salmon, his eight children and twenty-two grandchildren. His children and their spouses are: Gerard and Mary Tracy of Columbus, Ohio; Kathleen and Peter O'Flinn of Bonita Springs, Florida; Timothy and Shaileen Tracy of Fairfield, Connecticut; Patrice and Jay Melley of Windsor, Connecticut; Maryjo and Brian Morris of Ridgewood, New Jersey; Terence and Mary Kay Tracy of New Rochelle, New York; Kerry and Erin Tracy and Megan and Michael Grant of New York City. His grandchildren, to whom he was affectionately known as Papa, are: Gerard, Sean, Brigid, Kevin, Michael, Peter, Michael, Tim, Sheena, Micaela, Claire, Luke, Lauren, Megan, T.C., Maggie, Jack, Brogan, Aidan, Reilly, Molly and Ryan. Family and friends may call at Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 E. Wall Street, from 3pm-7pm on Sunday, July 13, 2008. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 14, 2008 at 10:00am at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in New Canaan, followed by an interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, New York.
