NEW HAVEN, CONN/NORWALK CONN Gerald "Pichingo" Navarro of New Haven, a Norwalk native, passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, November 19, 2011 in his residence, following a courageous battle with cancer. He recently celebrated his 46th birthday. Born in Norwalk, Conn on November 08, 1965, Gerald was the son of Andres and Margarita (DeJesus) Navarro, whom reside in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. He attended local schools and entered into the trade of plumbing. Gerald worked for various companies throughout Lower Fairfield County and subsequently relocated to New Haven ten years ago, to continue his profession. Along with his parents, Gerald is survived by a son, Lamar Navarro of Maryland; a brother, Andres "Jr." Navarro and his wife, Maria of Norwalk; two sisters, Milagros Navarro-Garcia and her husband, Edwin of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico and Jasira Navarro and her fiancé, Edwin of Norwalk; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved fiancé, Minerva Guzman. The Navarro family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 5:00PM - 8:00PM. Gerald's funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 9:20AM from the parlor, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Joseph R.C. Church, 85 South Main Street, SoNo, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM. The Rev. Gilbert P. D'Souza will officiate. Interment will follow.
