Georgios Seferidis

Georgios Seferidis, 88, of Norwalk, CT passed peacefully on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at home.

Georgios was born in Rialto Kozanis, Greece, on April 22nd, 1935 and married his devoted, life-long companion, Parthena Koroxenou in 1957.

Georgios sought opportunity for his family, immigrating to Germany for ten years and then coming to the United States with his wife and son in 1970, where he proudly became an American citizen. Working at Pepperidge Farm, George, as he was known, was recognized for his industriousness and dedication. In 1984, Georgios and his daughter-in-law, Sophia Seferidis, acquired Grandview Finest Grocery in Norwalk, making it a neighborhood mainstay for over thirty years with their signature deli offerings to their holiday Christmas Trees.

Georgios was admired for his joyous spirit, often found singing Greek folk songs, greeting customers with a hearty smile. He was also a capable carpenter, who prided himself for building additions to his home for his growing family and renovating the family store throughout the years. Together with his wife, Parthena, they would continue their lifelong passion of gardening, growing their prized tomatoes each season.

A proud grandfather, he was dedicated to his grandchildren  for whom he fondly built toys in their youth and shuttled them to school and weekly activities until he taught them to drive.

He is survived by his son Nicholas Seferidis; daughter-in-law Sophia Seferidis; his three grandchildren, George Seferidis, Dimitri Seferidis and, and Stelio Seferidis; his five great-grandchildren, Emma Seferidis, Ulysse Seferidis, Elena Seferidis, Isaac Seferidis, and Phoebe Seferidis.

He will be fondly remembered for his selfless dedication and love of his family.

Friends are invited to greet the family on Wednesday, October, 4th 2023, at 9:00 a.m. at St. George's Greek Orthodox Church, 238 West Rocks Road, Norwalk. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery at 81 Riverside Ave. ​in Norwalk. Reception will follow at Silver Star Diner at 210 Connecticut Ave in Norwalk.
