George F. Vredenburgh, Jr.

May 15, 1934 — August 14, 2015

George F. Vredenburgh ,Jr., 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Masonic Health Care. He was the son of the late George and Mary Sherwood Vredenburgh, Born on May 15, 1934 in Stamford, CT. George was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Korean War. He was a former employee of Perkin Elmer & Branson Instruments as a welder. He also greatly enjoyed tinkering. Besides his parents he is predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years Shirley Barnum. George is survived by his four children, Son George C. Vredenburgh (Anita Taylor), Redding, CT. Three daughters Laurie Trani (Bud) of South Carolina, Sharon Lyons of Seymour,CT, and Melinda Bottone (Tom) of Oxford, CT. A sister Mary Jane Genovese of Stamford, CT. George is also survived by his nine cherished grandchildren Jillian, Nathan, Danielle, Evan, Caity, Kirsten, Tommy, Benjamin, and Cassandra. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Emeritis of Woodbridge & Masonicare for their care and support. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday August 18, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home and Crematory, 5 East Wall Street. Interment will be Wednesday, August 19th 2015 at the Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk, CT at 11:00AM.
