STAMFORD/NORWALK George Louis Bratsenis, formerly of Stamford and Norwalk, died suddenly at his home on February 16, 2011. Born in Stamford on August 4, 1944, George was the beloved son of the late Louis George Bratsenis and Helen Elizabeth Daly Bratsenis of Stamford. George graduated from Stamford High School and received his BA degree from the University of Arizona. After graduation, he served honorably and courageously in Vietnam before returning to school and earning his law degree. In the years that followed, George was the owner of Georgio's Restaurant in Stamford. Throughout his life, he was a gifted athlete and a lover of many sports. In his youth, he was the starting pitcher for a number of local baseball teams before taking up golf and tennis. He excelled at every sport he played. He also loved to travel and had a keen interest in history and science. George is survived by his loving family including his sister Margaret (Peggy) and his niece Amber, his sister Karen DeBartolo and her husband Joe, his sister Jeanne Reinhard, her husband Matt, niece Ellen, and nephew Alexander, and cousins and their families. George is survived by his loving former wife and best friend Gail Lusardo and her three sons: Rick, Dean, and Roger and their families. He will be forever missed, never forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations in George's name may be made to the charity of your choice. Calling hours are scheduled for Friday, March 11, 2011 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street, between 5:00PM and 8:00PM. Burial will be private.
