Gary R. Mathieson, Sr.

Gary R. Mathieson, Sr.  age 67, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his side in Norwalk Hospital on February 1, 2019.  Gary was born on September 25, 1951, and was a lifelong resident of Norwalk.

He was the dear son of Elaine Flewellyn Mathieson and the beloved husband of Lillian (Cofelice) Mathieson of Norwalk.  Gary is also survived by his children; son, Gary Mathieson, Jr. and his daughter, Tracy Mathieson Mercado, a son-in-law, Michael Mercado, two brothers; Bruce Mathieson and Tom Mathieson, both of Norwalk, a sister; Nancy Ferencz of Danbury, and his two grandchildren; Kay and Mikey Mercado of Norwalk.

Gary was an outdoorsman in every sense of the word.  An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed camping, bird-watching and being one with nature.  He was also a loving family man, with a heart of gold.  He cherished time with his family and grandchildren, but most of all his adored wife of 46 years, Lillian, as she was his everything.  Gary will be dearly missed.

Friends and family are invited on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 from 4:00 -8:00 p.m. for a Memorial Service to celebrate Gary’s life at Hoyt-Cognetta/Lesko Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street, In Historic Norwalk , CT
