Francesco Torcasio

Francesco “Frank” Torcasio, 66, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 15th, 2017 at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by his family, love and prayer. Frank was born on October 5th, 1950 in Nicastro, Italy and was the son of the late Vincenzo and Serafina (Chieffalo) Torcasio. Shortly after the death of his father, Frank emigrated to the United States in 1965 with his mother, brothers and sisters and they settled in Norwalk. In 1975, he married his beloved wife, Antonia and they recently celebrated 42 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, Frank is also survived by his three children: Serafina Duncan and her husband Sean; Rosa Torcasio and her fiance`, James Cardamone and Vincenzo Torcasio and his wife Michelle; four grandsons; Nicholas, Francesco, Anthony and Joseph; his 3 brothers, Antonio (Laura), Giovanni and Salvatore and four sisters, Palma Pagliuso (Felice), Maria Ambrosio, Angelina DiMeglio (Luigi) and Ida Ignatiadis (Nick). He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins in both Italy and the U.S.
Frank will always be remembered for his generosity, his love of family and good-hearted nature. He lived a good life, helping so many along the way. Frank was genuine, kind and brought laughter into the lives of those who were blessed to know him. He was a true gentleman.
The family is especially grateful to his wife, Antonia, his amazing caregiver. She offered love, encouragement and support to Frank and was by his side every day for the last 4 ½ months, as he fought the battle of his life to recover from heart surgery. They would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Yale New Haven Hospital for their commitment to his care and the incredible kindness they showed to Frank.
Friends may greet the family on Tuesday March 21, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in Norwalk’s Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday March 22, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Philip’s Church, Norwalk. The procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM.
