Fay Audrey Smith, age 89, of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, departed this life on Thursday, July 8,

2021. She was the beloved wife of Byron B. Smith, Sr. Born April 30, 1932 in Kingston, Jamaica,

Fay was the daughter of the late Violet Valentine and Headley Thompson. She migrated to the

United States in 1975 to build a life and secure a home for her five children. She worked for many

years as a Circulation Supervisor at Business Journals, Inc. in Norwalk, Connecticut retiring in

  2008.

Fay was an amazing woman who enriched the lives of those she came in contact with. She

surrounded her family and friends with love, laughter, phenomenal meals and an infinite amount of

wisdom. She was a constant source of guidance and comfort to all who entered her home and

everyone affectionately called her “Mom”. She was not only a wonderful wife and mother, she

possessed a heart so loving and warm that all who knew her felt its light.

Fay’s love of plants and flowers kept her busy and gave her an immense amount of joy. She was

an avid reader who favored romance novels and created the word “fashionista” before anyone in

the family knew what that meant. From a young age, she always dressed her best and instilled in

her children the importance of taking pride in not only your appearance but in your character.

Fay was predeceased by her loving husband Byron B. Smith, Sr. and her twin brother Ralph

Thompson. Those left to cherish her memories are her devoted children Jacqueline A. Smith,

Wayne A. Smith (Barbara), Sharon A. Smith-Plata (Hugh), Byron B. Smith, Jr. (Jamie) and Stacey

  A. Smith. Her wonderful grandchildren Stephen A. Smith, Tyler A. Smith, Lacy Sween-Ansari,

Sean M. Smith, Satchel J. Smith and Madison E. Smith. Her cherished great-grandchildren Alisia,

Alaina, Miah, Londyn, Saira and Hashim. Her loving sister Enid Miller (Ralph). A host of

  treasured nieces, nephews and friends.
