NORWALK, CONN Evelyn L. "Rita" Avery of Norwalk, CT died Tuesday February 16, 2010 at home. Born November 10, 1912 in Stanberry, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Grace (Wilson) Morrison. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Avery; a brother, Robert Morrison and two sisters: Mildred Reitz and Olive LaBorde. Most of her youth was spent in Sterling, Colorado. She was active during WWII: working at munitions plants and a B29 modification center in Denver, Colorado. After her marriage in 1946 she resided in Stamford, Connecticut for seventeen years working as a cosmetician at Syl May Drug Store. She was active at St. John's Episcopal Church of Stamford, CT serving on many committees. She is survived by several nieces and nephews in Colorado, Oregon and California. There will be an interment with a graveside service on Friday February 19, 2010 at 10:00AM in Fairfield Memorial Cemetery in Stamford, CT. A memorial service for both she and her late husband Arthur will be scheduled in the future at St. John's Episcopal Church in Stamford, Connecticut. The family has selected Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street to assist them in the arrangements.
