NEW CANAAN, CONN. Ethel M. Savage, a long-time resident of Armonk, NY and more recently New Canaan, CT, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 92 on Wednesday, April 27, 2011. Her husband of 60 years, Walter W. Savage, predeceased her in 2001. Born in 1918 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the Joseph and Elizabeth Clews McCormack. Both her parents and her brother, Joseph, predeceased her. She is survived by her five children, Linda (Linsalata) and her husband Ralph of Weston, Massachusetts, Jane (Brown) and her husband Timothy of Plymouth, Michigan, Marilyn (Johnson) and her husband Keith of Weston, Massachusetts, Margaret (Faughnan) and her husband Kevin of New Canaan, Connecticut, and Walter Savage and his wife Shelley of Concord, California. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ethel loved her family and her many friends, who will miss her greatly. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and touched countless lives with her many kindnesses and concerns. She will always be remembered for her sparkling eyes and great smile. She never forgot anyone's birthday or anniversary and was famous for her pound cake, which was a fixture at many celebrations and get togethers. Ethel's family will receive friends on Sunday, May 01, 2011 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 4:00PM - 7:00PM. Her funeral will be held at 10:15AM on Monday, May 02, 2011 from the parlor, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Matthew R.C. Church, 216 Scribner Ave, Norwalk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM. Interment will be held privately, at the convenience of the family.
