Esther T. Cadmus

NORWALK, CONN Esther T. Cadmus passed away on Monday, May 10, 2010 at her home in Norwalk, Connecticut. She was the widow of Edgar Eddie' Cadmus. Esther was born in Ridgefield, Connecticut, on January 17, 1911 to the late Harry M Thomas, the Blacksmith, and the late Minolia (Adams) Thomas. She graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1929, and she and Eddie attended the class reunions for over 60 years. She was one of the first telephone operators for SNET, in Ridgefield. When she and Eddie married they moved to Mount Vernon, NY, and then settled in Norwalk, in 1944. She worked at the Roger Smith Hotel, in Stamford as their bookkeeper and office manager for many years. After her retirement, she returned part-time, until the hotel closed. Esther was a member of the Norwalk United Methodist Church, a Girl Scout leader, and active member of the Woman's Sewing Circle; crocheting, coordinating and putting together as many as 40 afghans a year for the Circle to donate to many charities, until recent years. She loved reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, and playing the piano. She is survived by a daughter, Louise Ross, of Naugatuck, CT, granddaughter Nicole Pelletier, her husband Thomas, and grandchildren Jameson and Lauralee, of Bethlehem, CT; granddaughter Kimberly Weisberg, her husband Scot, and great granddaughter Madeline, of Norwalk, CT; granddaughter Melissa Ross, of Stratford and several nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Her son Edgar Cadmus, Jr. predeceased her. Esther's family will receive friends on Friday, May 14, 2010 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 10:00AM - 11:00AM. Her funeral will be held in the parlor at the conclusion of calling hours, 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Bald Hill Cemetery, Wilton, Connecticut. Memorial contributions may be made to the Norwalk United Methodist Church, c/o Rev. Janet G.
