NORWALK, CONN Enid Moureen Dickens of Norwalk passed away on Monday, June 14, 2010 in her home, following a senseless act of violence. She was 56. Enid was born in Maryland District, St. Andrew Jamaica West Indies, on May 27, 1954 to Albert Dickens and Rona Knight. She attended the Maryland Basic School at a tender age, she then moved to Grove Primary where she gained a scholarship in the common entrance examination. Enid then went on to become a teacher at Shortwood Teacher's college. She graduated from the teacher's college and began her teaching career in the parish of St. Andrew. She spent seven years teaching her students who loved her very much. In 1987, Enid decided it was time for a change so she migrated to the United States, and took up her residence in Norwalk Connecticut. While residing there she sought to further her education so she enrolled in Norwalk Community College. Enid's second career began at Smith House/Scofield Manner where she remained until the time of her untimely passing. Enid was the master planner and organizer of the family. Everyone would seek her advice before a decision is made. She was loved and adored by everyone. She made friends easily and would keep those friends for a lifetime. Enid leaves to mourn her passing father, Albert Dickens; daughter, Alexis; sisters, Desirine, Dawn, Millie, Paulette and Marlene; brothers, Sita, Dazie, Jerry, Mickey and Steve (Bucky); Aunt, Sarah Bogle (Birdiee); an uncle; many nieces; nephews and a host of other relatives, friends and coworkers. Enid and her mother, Rona will be lying in repose on Sunday, June 27, 2010 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 2:00PM - 5:30PM. Their funeral service will be held in the parlor at 5:30PM and will conclude at 7:00PM. Additional funeral services, including interment will be held on July 03, 2010 in Jamaica. The family kindly asks that flowers to be omitted and they also would like to thank everyone for their many acts of kindness and prayers.
