NORWALK, CT Emery L. Wagner of Norwalk, passed away on Christmas Day in the Wilton Meadows Health Care Center following a lengthy illness. He was 84. Born in Lowell, Mass. on June 27, 1924, Emery was the son of the late Evangelist "Bill" and Zelia (Levasseur) Wagner. He and his family relocated to Norwalk at a young age and attended local schools. He graduated from Wright Tech of Stamford and subsequently entered the field of mechanical design. Emery worked as a designer draftsman for Dupont of Newtown for over twenty-six years, before retiring in 1987. In his younger years, he worked for the former Pedersen Golf Club Co. of Wilton, where he made golf clubs. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and a former member of the South Norwalk Boat Club. A devout Catholic, he was an usher for many years at St. Philip R.C. Church. Emery enjoyed bowling, playing golf, crossword puzzles and traveling with his wife. He also enjoyed the opera, fine dining and spending time with his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-eight years, Frances (Boisvert) Wagner; a son, Don T. Wagner of Norwalk; two daughters, Debra J. and her husband, Jacob J. Kozar, Jr. of Norwalk and Arleen H. and her husband, Keith Hegedus of Pepperell, Mass; four grandchildren, Jacob and Zachary Kozar and Justin and Brandon Hegedus and a nephew. Preceded in death was a brother, Raymond Wagner and a sister, Irene Wagner. Emery's family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, December 29, 2008 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street, from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. His funeral will follow at 11:00AM, from the funeral home, where the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Philip R.C. Church, 1 Father Conlon Place, Norwalk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30AM. Interment, which is private, will be held at the convenience of the family. The family kindly requests that flowers be omitted, however, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Emery's memory to St. Philip's.
