NORWALK, CONN Elvira K. Spoto of Norwalk, passed away on Tuesday, August 04, 2009 in her home, following a brief illness. She was 95. Her beloved husband of sixty years, Paul R. Spoto died in 1997. Born on December 26, 1913 in Corona, Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Lizette (Garafolo) Durante. Elvira was a retired Data Processor for over fifteen years for G. E Credit through the 1960's. She was an avid Yankees fan and a communicant of St. Matthew R.C. Church and its New Horizons Senior Club. The joy of her life was cooking for her family. She is survived by three daughters, Lillian Tyska and her husband Stan of Norwalk, Elizabeth DeLuca and her husband Ray of Stamford, and Joann Miller and her husband Ron of Stamford; Eight grandchildren, Cathy Smith of Norwalk, Robert Tyska and his wife Theresa of Stamford, Patricia DeLuca of Stamford, Susan DeLuca of West Haven, Lisa Morris and her husband John of Milford, Mark DeLuca and his wife Betse of Stamford, Michael Miller of Stamford and Melissa McGovern and her husband Mike of Norwalk; Nine great-grandchildren, Elise, Jessica and Danielle Smith, Maximus, Jake, Ava and Mia DeLuca, Luke Morris and Reilly McGovern and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by six brothers. Elvira's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, August 05, 2009 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, August 06, 2009 at 9:15AM from the parlor, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Matthew R.C. Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in the family plot in St. John Cemetery, Darien. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude and thanks to Dr. Arthur Heliotis for his constant care and support and to the hospice staff, including Linda Tucker, Fran Buono, Sydney Osler, Cecelia Manley and Ann for their compassionate and comforting care.
