Elva S. Lownds, 94, a lifelong resident of Norwalk, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2009 after a long illness at Marathon Healthcare, in Norwalk. Born December 24, 1914, in Norwalk, she was the daughter of the late Charles & Clara Mae Shraver Staples. She was a graduate of Norwalk High School, class of 1933. She was a former employee of the Edwards Company in Norwalk. She enjoyed her home, gardening and traveling with her husband. She is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Robert L. Lownds of Marathon Heathcare in Norwalk, as well as several nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lownds is predeceased by her infant son William in 1948, her sister, Verna Brown and her husband Bud. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 12, 2009 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall St, from 11:00AM to NOON. At the conclusion of calling hours, the funeral cortege will proceed to Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk, where a graveside service will be conducted at 12:15PM.
