WILTON, CONN Elsie M. Cici of Wilton, died peacefully on Wednesday January 26, 2011 at Norwalk Hospital. She was 85. Born in Bridgeport, November 6, 1925, Elsie was the daughter of Lena and Arthur Parry. She graduated as valedictorian at Harding High School, and worked for Bridgeport Hospital. Elsie fell in love with Guri V. Cici, and they married in 1943 as he left for duty in WWII. They both worked for DuPont Company in Wilmington, DE. They raised three children and enjoyed life on the Long Island. Elsie was active in all the arts and worked with the Women's Art Club of Locust Valley. She tirelessly supported her children's artistic endeavors, and continued her own weekly ballet lessons for years. She was a member of Mensa and learned to read and speak French and Russian. Sadly, Guri predeceased Elsie in 1977. Relocating in 1988 to Wilton, Connecticut, Elsie became involved with NAMI (National Association for the Mentally Ill) volunteering by leading parent groups and petitioning Hartford for change. Always enjoying the written word, Elsie took writing classes and wrote travelogues of the many trips taken over the years, both at home and abroad. Living a quiet life, Elsie continued to play the piano until her last days. She deeply loved her cats and the wildlife surrounding her wooded Wilton home. She is survived by her daughters, Avril Allard and Adriane McNeely and their husbands, and her son, Christopher John. She also has 5 grandchildren, Justin Allard, Eric Allard, Stefan Allard, Chloe Allard and Ariel McNeely. Elsie's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 11:00AM - 1:00PM in Nowalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street. Her funeral service will begin at the conclusion of calling hours, 1:00PM. Interment will be held privately. HOYT-COGNETTA is honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
