Elizabeth P. Roberts-With much sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the death of Elizabeth Roberts. This sudden transition occurred during the early hours of Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut with her daughter Mrs. Eugenia Robert-Jelani by her bedside.
Born in Liberia, West Africa on March 17, 1936, Mrs. Roberts came to CT to live with her daughter after escaping the civil and political unrest in Liberia. She made a life in Westport and Norwalk attending Christ & Holy Trinity Church in and assisting her daughter at Shacojazz Fashion & Café in South Norwalk. She later became care-giver for many young children in the area; a job that she cherished as a former teacher and principal in her home country.
Elizabeth was a resident at Ms. Laura Raymond Homes in Norwalk and attended, the Episcopal Church, St. Paul’s On-The Green. She leaves to mourn her loss, her biological, foster and step children Eugenia Jelani, Augustus Roberts, jr, Aletha Roberts, Elaine Addy, Alice Walker, Adrian Hayes, Erasmus Roberts and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday, June 16, 2016, 4-8 pm at Norwalk’s HOYT-COGNETTA, funeral home, 5 East Wall Street, Norwalk CT 06851. Tributes will be given from 6-8pm
