Eleanor Foy, 92, passed away on March 21, 2015. Eleanor was born in Trenton, NJ, and resided in White Horse, Hamilton Township, NJ for 62 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald J. Foy, Jr. for 52 years, and was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church/Our Lady of the Angels. Eleanor graduated from Blessed Sacrament School, and Trenton Central High School. Eleanor earned a B.S. degree from Trenton State Teachers' College (now The College of New Jersey). Eleanor attended Columbia University's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. She was awarded a post-graduate scholarship by the Trenton College Club to attend the National Audubon Society's Nature and Art Study Center in Maine. Eleanor's teaching career spanned over 40 years. She was mentored by noted Trenton (NJ) pioneer educator, and family member, Grace A. Dunn. Eleanor descended from a long line of dedicated teachers from the Quaker village of Fallsington, PA and Trenton NJ. Eleanor taught for several years at the Roebling (Elementary) School in Trenton NJ, and later became a member of the original faculty at the new Robinson (Elementary) School, Hamilton Township, NJ, taught 2nd grade from its opening in 1962 until her retirement. Eleanor was named in Who's Who Among American Teachers, and received multiple professional awards and recognition. She also assisted in her husband's family business in White Horse, Foy's Drug Store. Eleanor was a gifted artist who exhibited her oil paintings extensively in Mercer County NJ and Bucks County PA earning numerous awards. Eleanor's interest in books, history, and writing led to appointments by several Hamilton Township NJ mayors as a member of Hamilton Township commissions and committees. Eleanor was a researcher and author of several chapters of The History of Hamilton Township, and wrote many newspaper and magazine articles relating to history and education. She was an active member of the Trenton College Club/AAUW, NJEA, Boheme Opera Guild, Trenton Historical Society, William Trent House Association, Friends of the Hamilton Library, the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Division #6, and an interpreter for Historic Fallsington, Inc. and the John Abbott II House of the Historical Society of Hamilton Township. Eleanor enjoyed traveling with her spouse, Donald. They visited with their children all contiguous United States, all Canadian provinces, Mexico, Ireland, Great Britain, and all of Western Europe. Eleanor and Don's last decade together saw annual trips to Spain's Costa del Sol. Daughter of the late Edward G. Dolton, (Sr.) and Mary Louise (O'Brien), Eleanor was predeceased by her spouse; her sister and brother-in-law, Grace (Dolton) and Edward G. Ruyak, Sr.; her brother and sister-in-law Edward G. (Jr.) and Ruth (Larkin) Dolton. Eleanor is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law; daughter and son-in-law; grandchildren Clifton, and Anne and her spouse, Stephen Dance. Funeral services will be private. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Hamilton Township, NJ. Arrangements are under the care of the Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home, Norwalk, CT.
