Eileen S. Ballway

August 7, 1957 — July 15, 2020

Eileen Scully Ballway died suddenly on July 15 th , 2020 in Norwalk, CT.  She was born on August 7 th , 1957 to James A. “Al” and Mary Dorothy (Dieck) Scully in New Rochelle, NY and grew up in Larchmont, NY.

Eileen held her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY.  It was in Syracuse that she met and married Robert J. “Bob” Ballway and brought into the world three children: Leslie M. (Matthew Herrmann), Christopher R., and Dennis G. Ballway.  She raised her family in Port Allegany, PA and finally relocated to Norwalk, CT to care for her parents.

Eileen is survived by her children, her father, and five brothers: Michael, James, Stephen, Richard, and Paul Scully.  She is predeceased by her mother and ex-husband.

Eileen’s dreams came true when her grandson, Theodore A. Herrmann, was born of daughter, Leslie.  To her, Theo was the embodiment of pure joy and she cherished every moment of his life.

An eternal optimist, Eileen was often to be found laughing with friends, striving for justice in the world, and always knowing the right thing to do in any situation.  Ever humble and slightly self-deprecating in her humor, Eileen had a gift for writing, an artistic eye for design, and a power in public speaking.  Warm and genuine, she was a friend to all and truly cared about everyone she encountered.  With a conspiratorial wink, a witty retort, and a listening ear, it never felt like she met anyone for the first time.

It is no surprise that relationship building was her strength professionally as well as personally.  Eileen served as Assistant Vice President / Senior Wealth Management Specialist at People’s United Bank in Bridgeport, CT, where coworkers and clients adored her and relied on her abundant industry knowledge and ability to accomplish impressive tasks.

Eileen’s spirituality was multifaceted as a member of her Catholic church, an avid yoga fan, and always the consummate caretaker for her family members.  Her fierce love, commitment, and intelligence meant that she was naturally the cornerstone of her family: the nexus of stability, love, and laughter in the face of adversity.

Her vibrant kindness, generosity of spirit, and quick wit endeared her to all and she will be missed every single moment of every day, forever.
