NORWALK, CONN Edward J. Vento of East Norwalk passed away on Tuesday, April 06, 2010 in Honey Hill Healthcare Center of Norwalk, following a short illness. He was 80. His beloved wife of fifty-seven years, Marilynn J. (Kubovic) Vento passed away on April 28, 2008. Born in Norwalk on April 28, 1929 to Dominic and Margaret (Urda) Vento, Ed was a 1948 graduate of Norwalk High School. He was drafted into the United States Army, where he served our country during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return home he became a self-employed master builder, building homes and additions around the area until his retirement. Ed was known for his magnetic personality and was able to make friends wherever he traveled. His infectious smile and witty sense of humor will forever be in the hearts he touched. Ed was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend and will be missed by all. Ed had a love for the outdoors, especially the water. He usually could be found by the water or on his boat. He was passionate about fishing and loved clamming. Gardening was also another pastime and his home is decorated with numerous hand-crafted bird houses. He is survived by his son, Edward J. and his wife, Ana L. (Calderon) Vento of Norwalk; his three daughters, Lynn M. Vento of Norwalk, Lori A. and her husband, Jack B. Raymond of Rowayton and Leslie A. Vento and her husband, Chad Licht of West Hartford; his seven beloved grandchildren, Eric Vento, Jake and Jenny Raymond, Kayleigh, Nathaniel, Timothy and MacKenzie Licht; his sister, Marjorie Lee of Norwalk and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding in death were three brothers, Frank, Dominic and Joseph Vento - two sisters, Rose Wenzel and Kate Irwin and a stepbrother, Albert Urda. Friends may call to Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street on Sunday, April 11, 2010 from 1:00PM - 4:00PM. In honor of Ed's service to our country, full military honors will be rendered at the parlor, 3:55PM. The funeral service and interment will be held privately, at the convenience of the family.
